What we danced at Gerrards Cross This term - Spring 2023

7th February 2023

Nice and Easy - as it says on the tin!

Merry Lads of Ayr - warning from Rose not to over-rotate or risk getting that reel wrong!

The Rock and wee Pickle Tow - features the quick time poussette

Delvine Side - features the 2 couple allemande

Wicked Willy the one with double hello goodbye setting!l Also half figures of 8, Left Hands across and half Right & Lefts

The First Rain of Spring - we found this a bit of a challenge, with double figures of 8 and especially the 1/2 Celtic Reels

Berwick Johnnie - Some useful practice with 1/2 Right Hands Across, the Allemande for 2 couples and turning corner, partner, corner, partner

31st January 2023

Lintons Ploughman features Right Hands Across and Left Hands back and the quick time poussette(which we left out this time).

A wee Touch of Class

Barbara's Strathspey -Features half figure of 8 and then the wonderful 3 couple bourrell when you are re-united with your Partner in a line up and down. The 3 couple Bourrell only works if you start it NOT OPPOSITE your partner so there's a clever little sequence to get you in the right places to start

Coats land *TDThe one with the upside-down allemande, a bit of chasing round in a horseshoe and teapots . The trick is for 1s  coming back up to the top smoothly after the chase, ready to cast and flow into teapots, and 2s and 3s staying in place immediately after horseshoes..

Water of Leith *TD- features Reel of 4, Right Hands Across and the beautiful but slightly tricky Espagnole

Bauldy Bain's Fiddle *TD - the tricky one we left to the experienced dancers. Supporting couples doing right hands across and chasing while dancing couple cast and turned.  2 half diagonal reels of 4 and a circle complete the picture!
