What we danced at Gerrards Cross Autumn 2024

 

8th October 2024

Highland Welcome  . A round the room dance to start us off. 

Judge's Jig  . A double figure of 8 and reels of 3 on the sides feature in this dance.

Dancing Bees  . This time the reels of 3 are done across the set.

The Music and the Dance with the Knot for 3 and Set and Rotate for 3,

 

The Lass of Richmond Hill- the one with Corners Chain

Swirling Snow    strathspey-  perfectly achieved this week! 

Waternish Tangle the one with the targe. 

1st October 2024 ( break for jumble sale)

The Coanwood Stuarts(Jig ) An easy one to start. 

Collie Law  (jig) - another 2 couple dance

Corn Rigs(Reel)  Introducing the Quick Time Pousette 

Young Accordion Man  (Reel) with a birl,  and  the Corner's Chain. 

Water of Leith Strathspey- features Reel of 4, Right Hands Across and the beautiful but slightly tricky Espagnole

Miss Welsh's Reel  (Jig)  - features Right Hands Across ( and left back) , and Corner/Partner/Corner/partner.

Swirling Snow    strathspey-  the one where we got in a muddle! 

Craven Twelvesome   Jig - the square one with a man with 2 women on each side  featuring reel of 3  and half Right Hands Across for the men.

17th September 2024

Borrowdale Exchange (Reel) A round the room dance to start, with 3 couples . 

Bits of Both (jg) A longways set with promenade and Allemande. 

EH3 7AH  (Jig) with the promenade and teapots.

Trip to Glasgow (jig) with loads of setting and advancing and retiring!

McMarley's Cross(Strathspey) with the Hands Across for 2 couples and the Grand Chain

The Committee Meeting (Reel) with mirror reels, left shoulder reels  and Set and Link.

City of Belfast  -(Strathspey) Reel of 4 and the Espagnole : oh so elegant! 

Scott Meikle (Reel)- with tandem reels of 3 across

10th September 2024

A Scottish Jig (Jig) A round the room dance to start. 

Espie McNabb (Jig)- some simple introductory terms to learn here

Cutty Sark (Jig)-  we danced a modified version for simplicity with the unusual Partner/Corner/Corner/Partner turns replaced by turning both corners with the right hand

Rakes of Glasgow (Strathspey)- The slow one introducing Rights and Lefts and the 2 couple allemande.

The Button Boy (Reel)

Reflection reels ( normal and crossing) , double triangles  and Whoopsie Turn

The Good Dance (Reel)

A reel re-using some of the same formations.

Paisley Weavers (Strathspey)- The one with the double chord so the 2s can start on the opposite side, then featuring Grand Chain, Ladies'Chain and Half Rights & Lefts
